Bicycle Quotes!

"When the spirits are low, when the day appears dark, when work becomes monotonous, when hope hardly seems worth having, just mount a bicycle and go out for a spin down the road, without thought on anything but the ride you are taking" -Sherlock Holmes

"The bicycle is just as good company as most husbands and, when it gets old and shabby, a woman can dispose of it and get a new one without shocking the entire community." -Ann Strong

"If you were a spectator on one of the mountain passes today, the super-light bikes would be little different in appearance from the machines of years ago, pedaled by earlier heroes, Coppi, Anquetil, Merckx, Hinault, LeMond, Roche. They would look like the bikes our dads rode when we were kids. But the Tour is a commercial race, and innovation must be given its place on the catwalk, or in this case the vĂ©lodrome…. " -James Waddington

"It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle." -Ernest Hamingwey

"Marriage is a wonderful invention; but then again, so is a bicycle repair kit."  -Lord Charles

"Get a bicycle. You will not regret it if you live." -Mark Twain

"Build Speed up gradually, you will save energy" -Unknown

"Communication is a skill that you can learn. It's like riding a bicycle or typing. If you're willing to work at it, you can rapidly improve the quality of every part of your life." -Brian Tracy

"This is the reason i love the "fixed gear scene", the obsessive mental masturbation about bits of anodised metal from japan/italy/usa and the desire to be adored by your peers for riding a clown bike."  -Unknown

Hujan Warnai Kekalahan Tim Balap Sepeda Indonesia

 Spec

  • weight: 296 grams
  • flange material: 6061 AL
  • flange drilling: 24 or 32
  • shell material: ud carbon fiber
  • axle width: 120 or 130
  • bolts: m10 titanium
  • cog threading: 1.37 x 24 tpi

Tech

Description

The Chub Fixed is made up of two oversized aluminum flanges bonded to a massive carbon shell. It rolls on sealed cartridge bearings and employs an alloy 15mm thru axle, bolted to the frame by custom Titanium M10 bolts.
As compared to a typical high flange fixed gear hub using the same spoke count, rim, and build method, the Chub Fixed decreases peak spoke stress under pedaling loads by a staggering 70%!  Reducing peak spoke stress means your wheels wind up less, accelerate faster, and won’t blow up.

Phill Wood

Hub

Phil Wood introduced the now-standard Field Serviceable Axle (FSA) in 1991. The FSA design enables the axle to be separated from the hub after unthreading the end caps using two hex wrenches. The quick release axles use a 5 mm hex wrench and the bolt axle hubs use an 8 mm hex wrench. Our axles are threaded externally, with the end caps threaded to exactly match the axle thread. The hubs use shouldered axles that precisely position the bearings.
The Field Serviceable Cassette (FSC) design enables to you to remove the axle (as in our FSA hubs) and easily perform maintenance on both the hub bearings and the Phil freehub body mechanism. Our freehub body is 8-, 9-, and 10-speed Shimano compatible. The axles are precision ground to 15 mm in diameter. The hub shells use a unique Hi-Lo flange configuration enabling better balanced spoke tension.
All disc brake hubs use the international standard 6-bolt rotor mounting pattern.

Phil Wood offers the following types of hub:
  • ROAD, freewheel and cassette rear options
  • TOURING, freewheel and cassette rear options
  • TANDEM, 6-bolt disc brake and drum brake options
  • MOUNTAIN, standard and 6-bolt disc brake options
  • KISS-OFF (single-speed) mountain, standard and 6-bolt disc brake options
  • TRACK, single-fixed, double-fixed, fixed-free options
  • BMX (a selection of silver, new old stock is available)
  • WHEELCHAIR

Our hubs are standard high-polish aluminum, but are also available in the following colors for an up-charge:
  • black
  • red
  • blue
  • green
  • purple
  • pink
  • orange
  • white powdercoat

Bottom Bracket

Phil Wood & Co. manufactures square taper bottom brackets for nearly all square taper cranks. The spindles are made out of either US produced heat-treated stainless steel or aerospace grade titanium. Standard spindle lengths range from 70mm to well over 155mm. The spindles are sold as either a plain spindle (for use with press-fit style bottom bracket shells) or assembled in a cartridge with bearings. Cartridge widths are available for bottom bracket shells in 63, 68, 73, or 100mm with any spindle length to accommodate the target frame. Custom spindle lengths and cartridge widths are available upon special request.
Our cups (also known as mounting rings) are sold separately from the bottom brackets and are available in all the threadings (British, Italian, Raleigh Super Corsa, French, Swiss, and Chater Lea). Extended cups with a left-hand lock ring are available in British threading for use with E-Type derailleurs or to hold a bracket to mount a chain guard. Occasionally, when British threads are damaged, mechanics have been known to salvage the frame by tapping the damaged side for Italian threading and installing an Italian cup on that side. Phil Wood cups are also available in singles to accommodate these issues.

Spokes and Nipples

Phil Wood offers a full line of spokes in straight gauge, straight pull, and single- and double-butted. All are offered in silver and anodized black.
